Hi There, You may have noticed that I’ve been leaving a few posts in the forums here so I thought I’d better introduce myself.
My name is Ian and I have the very good fortune to be paid for being a smallholder..
Pause as you all call me names…
I work on a small.. big holding that has 30 acres of grassland and approx 15 acres of woods, 3 acres of garden a 40ft heated greenhouse and plenty of outbuildings
At present I look after 140 sheep Mostly pedigree suffolks, 9 hens and 13 ducks, 3 cats and 5 dogs
In the incubator I have 9 pheasant eggs and 1 duck egg which were in a nest the cat chased the hen pheasant off
… make that 7 pheasant eggs and 2 chicks

Where in Northumberland are you? I was born and bred in the West end of Hexham. We sold my parents house last year so have not been there since then. I miss the place :-[

I'm on the outskirts of corbridge, I know the old west end of hexham quite well an old stomping ground from the sele right through to the golf course.

We went to Hexham for our honeymoon. We were booked to go to New York, but someone flew a plane into some buildings just before we were due to go, so Hexham it was. I like Hexham, though - it's a proper town.

Small world - we lived in Park Avenue just above the Priors Flats cricket field and I went to the grammar school. My brother went to Haydon Bridge and now lives near Carlisle. I will be up to see him of course but find it hard coming to Hexham since I lost my parents. No doubt that will get easier as time goes on. It is a lovely part of the world with some amazing scenery. I live in Mid Wales now which is also lovely. :D

No Worries Rosemary
:sheep: Sheep ;) or they could be Black Welsh, I always manage to get words around the wrong way :-[
They're quite small sheep, very hardy & lovely natured - great for a beginner like me :)
