just checked you up on the membership map you guys arent far at all.
you never know we could meet up some time in future,
other members do and smallholding, farming can be a lonesome lifestyle at times.
did you say you got sheep? if we ever found ourselves in the future to be able to keep
sheep we would love to, as at the mo we only have one acre, but we love it ;D
-
Bazz loves the sheep :D Hes really good with them :) My passion is the ponies, we have 22 altogether but i have 14 here, the rest are at my mums, some more are due to come up soon We have welsh mountain ponies, welsh ponies (section B ), welsh cobs and a little miniature shetland :)
See told you that you werent too far away. :)
-
is bazz your horse???
we started out with growing veg back up in the valleys, we started watching ' river cottage '
hugh ferl whitingstall (not sure of spelling!) is my hero watching him and learning his ethos about food etc
encouraged us to move to the country.
do you watch it? what a horrible day :(
-
I keep seeing farms for sale in Pembrokeshire - so much cheaper than here, and very tempting to up sticks and move. Ohhhh.....Langdon would be coming round with questions for me to answer instead of having to type them on here, about goats :D
I would love to live in the mountains too, cos its very similar to the rugged area we live in.
You never know, the way things are going, we may be heading your way .....you would know we had arrived, believe me. Once we unloaded our menagerie you would not miss us.
-
lol, nooo, Bazz i my other half :D I loved watching river cottage, brilliant programme, i moved down here cos of several reasons, so glad i did :D
-
Lol @ Roxy :D GGood for you, it really is special here, John Francis estate agents are about the best in the area, and the west wales smallholders, ignore Town and Country cos they over priced ;)
-
roxy you gota come over ere!
i will help you move!!!!!!
to right, all this typing i could just pop over for a cuppa and discuss things then,
wow i can see it all now.
let me know when you start looking ;) :goat:
-
so he is not the stallion then ;D
what you think bou roxy coming over ere, im on the case :D
lets keep telling her how beautifull and lush it is ere!!
-
No my stallion is called Talisman :D
It is a simply beautiful place to live i love it so much after being down south wales :D
-
I have a friend down in South Wales, and she keeps on at me to move there. She does travel up to horse shows, but do not see her much, as its such a long way.
I keep looking on Rural Scene, and a couple of websites of smallholdings for sale in Wales - although one is a lot cheaper than the other?!!
We have about 20 acres here, but could probably manage on a bit less if we had to!! The only problem would be work. I suppose like anywhere, jobs are hard to come by? We are fortunate in that we can turn our hands to different jobs, and not afraid of hard graft!! It would be nice if the house had a holiday cottage, or caravan to let, which would generate extra income.
Would like to be in a rural locaton, but perhaps where there are walkers, and tourists driving past - the reason being I have my free range egg business!!!!
I have been tempted by Scotland properties, and reallly like it up there. Not really been round Wales much......used to go to the Snowden Fell race every year though. I like Snowdonia.
-
how was your day hellebee up there?
ours was wet wet wet :(
-
Misty, rainy but the rain is still welcome, would like a bit of sunshine next week lol :D
-
When I saw the title of this thread it brought back fond memories of childhood holidays, staying in the blue house on the harbour beach at Tenby - love the place!
In Ross-on-Wye now though - only just got here and not planning to move for a very long time!
-
more are you all mad up there!
:o
-
nooo not at all, it s just what we need, give the soil a good drink :)
-
eye your right, i can see the benefits of it all ready where we have sectioned
of our chicken run to reseed, the lush green grass is coming through lovely,
there is something about grass that i just love, i love walking shep and seeing fields
and fields of lush green grass, it must be all the fresh country air ::)
p.s. how is the :horse:(s) ;)
-
They are good, the old stallion is happy with his flock of sheep, the girls up on the headland are as bright as buttons and my babies down on the yard are too :) Chooks are laying nicely too :D
How are your goats, do you hae piccies of them. We had two verey old angora goats once, they thought they were ponies and would follow the herd everywhere :D
-
milly and molly are great thanks still loving their hay rack that i made and im still loving sitting with them
as they munch on hay. i got pics of them but will have to ask beth(wife) to put them on!!!
im not so clued up when it comes to being clever with comps.
:goat:
-
Looing forward to seeing them :D
-
you will have to come to tembs in the summer?
-
I want to come to Tenby :D Asked hubby, as he has travelled everywhere when he was young, as his parents camped and caravaned. He says its miles and miles from here..........
-

-

-
Lovely pics of your livestock. And the adorable George of course.
And who is that handsome chap under your signature? :D
-
i say!
well i thought i should show meself to you all
sorry for cheesy grin, i couldnt help it!
ya we are proud of our stock little that it is but its important to us as we are trying to teach the
kids important values in life and educate them in food issues.
when i was a working gardener i called myself ' the naked gardener' well thats another matter!
langdon
-
Well, we want to hear the story of the naked gardener ......
I think its great you teaching your kids the important things in life. I think its so sad when children in cities never get to see animals close up, or find out about growing food. A man on holiday near us, asked me what colour milk the black and white cows give ......so there is no hope for his children learing about animals is there!!!
-
no way lol lol you should have said grey!!!
i done one year in college in landscape and garden design N.V.Q. L2
so when we were living in swansea i worked around for a while.
one night our freinds were around and we were talking about going further in the
gardening buisness and we were talking about what name to have.
i was saying how i loved jamie olivers ethos about food ' the naked chef '
going back to basic cooking with no added crap in food.
that gave me food for thought when it comes to gardening, good basic gardening skills with no
chemicals what so ever involved.
so that was the name ' the naked gardener ' ;D
-
Well, I am sure you would get plenty of lady customers if you lived up to your name!!
There is a man near us who goes out all the time with no shoes or socks, but he is well known for going out minus his clothes too. One friend told me she went to his house and there he was up on the roof mending the tiles......naked. Another friend said they had seen him riding his bike early one morning .....naked.
-
mmmm in all weather? i dont think so!!
i could call meself now ' the naked smallholder '
getting back to nature, you know ;D
i think we should stop here! ;)
-
:D
-
good night! have yourself a fab day tomorrow ;)
-
whoa there, i nearly spilt me drink, dont think cocacola mixes with laptopsvery well lol
-
In Ross-on-Wye now though - only just got here and not planning to move for a very long time
I have friends at Goodich near R o W, if you see them being pulled about by a few orange and white dogs a bit like spaniels (they are Brittanys) say 'Hello, John and Barbara, Annie sends her love! ;D ;D ;D That'll take them by surprise.
I have friends all over the country because of this breed!
-

hope to hear from you soon.
