we just started to buy in bales of hay that are wrapped they are only the small size,
do e leave them wrapped up to keep them fresh longer ?
just new to smallholding forgive the arrogance! ;)
-
do you mean haylage? if so yes stay in wrappers until needed
-
You open them as you need them as they will go off in a few days if opened and left. ;)
-
yes haylage it is what is the difference between hay and haylage ???
-
Hay stay s on the field longer so that it dries out more. Haylage is baled a few days less and is wrapped in plastic and we started using ours 3 months after it was cut. The wrapping pickles the forage more or less, it has a higher water content and of course is handy cos you dont need to store it undercover. ;) Our sheep and horses love it :)
