I have kept poultry for years and have a fair knowledge - however this year I am flummoxed.
Have some geese, one female West of England, two Chinese males, one xbred male and one West of England male - or so I thought. They do their pairing up in the Autumn and have lived together for years and years. The female lays and because of their history there is no problem with them fighting or too much treading etc.
However the white gander is sitting as in incubating the eggs all on his own?
I have been convinced all these years he is a he, maybe I am wrong?
Anyone else had a gander incubate the eggs? Interestingly his partner is the chinese gander - are they 'new geese' becoming house husbands??

i think they know who they are. why not spray a dot on it and watch out for mating. alternately he is a new gander and is in touch with his feminine side.

I'm confused ??? ??? ??? ??? Spray a dot on WHAT and watch out for mating ;D ;D

the gander/goose and see if its well the male or female.

I may have to turn this bird up and have a look!

do you know what you are looking for?

i would love to see you try. that would make one very cross gander

Yes, in an adult goose it is easier than a young goose. However will wait until 'his' paternal duties are over
