Title: Newbies! Looking to set up a smallholding
Post by: shells2411 on August 06, 2015, 10:07:54 am
Hi everyone!
I came across this forum whilst researching the world of small holdings and thought I would say hi and see if anyone can help point me in the right direct.

We currently live in Lancashire in a very rural location. Over the years we had a dream of owning our own small holding and now we have decided to go for it - but are finding its a mind field! We ideally want to lease/rent somewhere first, preferably in the North West.

Can someone point me in the direction of any land agents/websites that we could get in contact with that might be able to help?

Thanks in advance!

Shelley

Hi and welcome! .
Try googling for agricultural agents/auctioneers in the area of interest as a starting point, you could also do a search along the lines of 'smallholdings for sale in X area'.
Good luck! :) :) .

Hi shells. We are in rural Lancs too. What part are you in?
Best local ports of call would be Richard Turner ( at Bentham and Ribble Valley) or Armistead Barnett's in Preston. Tell them what you are looking for and they will keep an eye out

Hi Thanks so much for the suggestions! I will definitely be getting in touch. We are near Clitheroe. On the outskirts near Waddington. Very rural location - it's beautiful. But unfortunately just doesn't have everything we need for our dream!

Do you have a small holding locally?
xx

Yes I know your area very well; its lovely.
We have  a small barn conversion and 9 acres at Anglezarke near Chorley. We moved here from the Fylde last October. We keep chickens, horses and sheep. We moved here for the riding to be honest but one thing seems to lead to another!
Both Richard Turner and Armistead Barnetts regularly have properties in your area. Good luck in your search
