So i missed the end of the old CCAGS grants and now need to apply under its replacement, which appears to be called CAGS.
Before I launch into the process, has anybody on here dealt with it yet?
-
I'm in exactly the same situation as you so keen to hear from others.......
-
Me too. I have not applied yet but am busy collecting quotes for an application.
-
Yes and getting the quotes can be harder than the application!
-
Tell me about it. 2 months later and I am still trying to get quotes for all 4 parts of the job!

Indeed! Do you know of any fencers on Skye who will actually provide a written quote? So far I've had only one, but apparently I need three!
-
Only 2 needed if it is under £10k I think.
I guess you could also quote to do the work yourself. You would need a couple of quotes for the materials and be able to say how many hours labour it would take. They then assign your labour a rate (about £7/hr I think).
The problem with this though is you might end up having to do the work yourself!

I'm at the north end but my neighbour gave me a quote for fencing. He recently put a field gate up for me and made a good job of it.
Are you on the Facebook page "Skye free ads" you could stick a post on there asking for fencers, I did and got a few names around where I am.
I also thought it had changed to two quotes....
-
Yes I'm on that page and I did ask, but unfortunately none of the people who responded came good with a written quote, and a facebook message doesn't count! Even the fencing materials suppliers have proved hard to pin down, they'll happily quote over the phone and promise a written list with prices, but so far none of them have followed through. Maybe it's all designed to make you forget about grants and just stick the fence up by yourself :)
