One of my two goats tested positive for lungworm. Both have low egg counts of Strongyle. Vet has said best to treat with Albencare. Has any one experience of this. Does it need a second dose or just the one? What is milk withdrawal period? Any advice appreciated.

Never heard of it, doubt very much if its licenced for goats nothing much is. I would check on the goat veterinary site or try the British Goat societies health and welfare officer for advice or perhaps one of the vets that post on here will help :innocent:

It must be one of the "white" wormers, active ingredient albendazole, so as such should be given at twice the sheep dose. Can you weigh your goat?
I would give a twice-sheep dose now and then re-test after 10 days or so to test efficacy.

Thankyou both. Anne that is the active ingredient alright. Have you any idea of milk withdrawal period.

If it hasn't got anything on the bottle I would go for 7 days for humans. Milk still good for (goat) kids and pigs, hens etc.
