Title: WANTED piglet cube drinker
Post by: pedigree porker on March 11, 2010, 08:03:13 pm
Does anyone know of any suppliers of these? or have any that they want to pass on.

We have searched all relevant websites without success, heres hoping somebody knows where we can get one.

Thanks

A pig Cube Drinker is a self contained drinker of about 20 Litre capacity.

Imagine a rectangular plastic box stood on end with a fill cap at the top and a trough drinking arrangement at the bottom.

Used in areas without running water - so you fill them up every few days.

Sorry we don't stock them :-(

Ah thanks for that! learn something new everyday! Those ibc containers, we got some off ebay, £50 each delivered, we use them to store water taken form the barn roof, to water the garden in summer! you could easily adapt one of those? or a water butt?

You can use an IBC, or even cheaper is one of those large blue plastic drums. Just drill a hole and fit a nipple drinker spout - cheap and easy !  ;D :pig:

No, sorry, not in the UK anyway.

The IBC / Barrel idea is probably the best way to go, but I personally would use a galvanised general purpose bowl drinker connected to the water container via a length of 15mm hose rather than a nipple drinker - just my personal taste in drinkers.

Make sure the water is quite clean though or you will block the valves if it contains leaves etc.

And we do sell Galvanised drinkers :-)

Thanks

what is wrong with making your own drinker?
a galvanised bowl or plastic (jfc) they both have 3/4 bsp fittings a hose to connect to 25 litre plastic can (caravan supplie places) bracket to hold the can and voila you have made your own     you comply with having fresh running water         that is what we used at the BPA stand at the highland show the last two years (the only animals that complied with the letter of the law)  :pig:

Clarkes of Walsham-le-willows in Suffolk used to supply the cube drinkers.  I do not know if they still do.
