In the interest of getting better educated in animal welfare / agriculture (and with an eye on possibly attempting to get the New Entrants Grant) I am looking for an online S/NVQ. I work fulltime so going to a college is not an option.
Does anybody know of any suitable courses? I believe min requirement for the grant is NVQ leval 2
Thanks,
Chris

City & Guilds have some options in their Land Based services website here:

Might be a good place to start looking.

I know the nvq livestock production takes a year full time so id say anything equivalent would take 3 years part time and by the time this is finished I very much doubt the grant will still be available !

I am keen to do something anyway and I can only live in hope the grant will still be around. If i do nothing i definitely wont get it so I might as well give myself a fighting chance.

Very true ,
Bear in mind if you can show practical experience then you can still apply for the grants without quals ,many have and have been successful!

They have really tightened up on qualifications recently, and I am pretty certain that for new entrant grants you will have to have, we certainly had to send proof of qualifications, and our SAC officer had had people she was helping whose applications were declined because of no qualifications despite extensive experience and proven success.

NVQ's are not full time college courses anyway .......... need to be working and collecting evidence of competence ........... contact local landbased college
