Title: Courier for poultry

Hi,

I am just putting the feelers out at the moment. Has anyone had a turkey transported through a bird courier. I am currently looking at a turkey that is near Merseyside but I am in Gloucester. It may sound a bit mad but do people get turkey's moved in this way. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a transporter, or a rough cost for this.

There is no substitute for collecting the bird yourself Minibn. You can check it over and see the general condition it is in and also importantly the available space it had and the feeding arrangements. I've just picked up a cockerel from Poitiers, which from Gascony is a 500 mile round trip (he was the closest available). Because of the distances the French use couriers a lot, with very variable results and I was advised against it.


Best collecting in the evening and returning at night for minimum stress; on the bird not you.
