Title: muscle injury
Post by: waterbuffalofarmer on July 14, 2015, 07:23:16 am
A couple of months ago when I was feeding pet lambs I had to squat to feed them and I hurt my foot when I was feeding them.  The thing is I couldn't walk on it for a week, but it seemed to improve, now when it should be healed properly it is still quite stiff sometimes when I walk on it.
The question is I don't think it has healed properly so should I see the dr about it, or is there anything else I can do?

Morning waterbuffalofarmer

Sometimes injuries take a while to get better but if you have any doubts then you should see a doctor about it

Foot injuries take time to heal unless you can be totally non weight bearing. If you are still experiencing pain I think seeing your GP would be sensible in case there is a problem that needs to be sorted to avoid long term consequences.

My daughter hurt her foot/lower ankle at school a couple of months ago.

It was still painful after a week and I did wonder whether she had broken something so called our local minor accident unit for advice .....  the nearest A&E is an hour or so away.

They said that foot/ankle injuries are frequently still painful for up to two weeks and suggested I wait until after two weeks to get it X rayed.  She was fine after that.

You could give doctors/accident unit a phone call and see what they say.

Without a proper diagnosis, it would be wrong to suggest anything for you to do.
You say muscle but could be tendon or bone damage. Each would be treated differently.
Don't be a stereotypical male about seeing the doctor.  :eyelashes:

I may be wrong and certainly nit having a go but i don't think it will be muscle pain in tour foot as I don't think there are muscles in feet so its more likely tendon, ligament or bone all of which can be excruciatingly painful
I jumped of the quad on Easter Sunday and was in pain from a bruised her fir a couple if months !

Its easier than you might think to break one of those tiny bones in your foot. And tendon injuries are always slow to heal. Think it needs a professional WBF

doctor won't do anything, I would go and see a chiropractor or osteopath.

There are muscles in your feet, between the metatarsals and in your toes. However, in my experience as a radiologist looking at sports injuries (among lots of,other things), small, bone injuries and ligament damage are much more common than muscle, injury

Thanks for the advice guys really appreciate it. Am gonna see my dr and maybe a specialist too am also gonna talk to my orthotist about it as well. When I first injured it, it was swollen and the swelling was on the left side of my left foot nr to the little toe. After tons of rest and plenty of ice packs it was ok. When it was injured it hurt to press lightly on my foot and I couldn't stretch my toes all the way without it paining. I may have torn a muscle/tendon. The most perplexing thing was the fact I had been bitten on my foot and some of the swelling was due to that, could there be a connection? Anyway it healed, maybe not properly though, but if i stretch my feet on my tip toes or get up after sitting down it is stiff and sore. Am very perplexed. ???

Must have been it was only a small bite but it may have triggered a reaction

Possibly but not that much. I think you're doing the sensible thing by getting it checked. If you see an orthotist, I presume you have foot trouble anyway although I know they do do other parts.

I have a slight outstep, which I get insoles for, I was thinking it could be partly to do with needing new insoles which I'll be getting next week.
