Title: Dog food
Post by: charlie on March 04, 2010, 07:32:43 pm
What do you think is best for dogs?  A whole complete dry food such as pro plan etc,  or raw meat and bones, fast for a day and then oat meal for one day.
Interested in other peoples thoughts.

Cheers.

In the wild, a dingo dog would kill and gorge on the food available, then posssibly not eat fro days - their digestive systems are geared to accommodate that.  But the domestic dog is not wild.  It needs regular meals every day.  Some people give only one meal a day, some add in a few biscuits at another time which might be tea or breakfast.  I feed a dry complete food with low protein and add in some tinned food, or raw mince, or scraps from the table.  I prefer to feed twice a day, breakfast and tea, with a chew at bedtime

Ours are on a dry meal (Skinners Muesli) am, then a tripe meal pm,

I'm not the most knowlegable on feeds, and I'm sure someone else will be able to give a much more technical answer. all i can say is all of ours look really good on it

Mine have a dry complete (not Pro Plan - far too expensive!) twice a day.  They have some food scraps added in and share a tin of Pilchards at the weekend.
