Title: Naked Breast!
Post by: Railway Chickens on March 04, 2010, 11:51:47 am
Hello All,

A couple of our chickens have lost the feathers on the breast area, the skin is not sore or red and they have already molted. We are not overly worried about it but are curious as to why this may be so if anyone has any ideas it would be nice to know.

Thanks,

Railway Chickens

if they are females have a look around you may find a nest. they may be becoming broody.

Hi,
thanks for your reply, I don't think they are broody as they don't sit on the nest for ages, and the feathers seem to be strewn around all over. Would it be due to going in dust baths? They are the least fluffy of our chickens too.

Thanks

i also have this problem and i took her to the poultry vets and they said its just an infection but reading this i think she might just be getting broody as she is always laying in the nesting box but she has stopped laying
