Since we saw a potential smallholding last October we have been trying to get a bank interested in giving us a mortgage, up till now with no luck.
Today, finally after many months and spending £6k for various reports for various banks we have now got the funding. The letter confirming this is to be sent to both solicitors tomorrow. ;D :) ;) :-*
I know this sounds all very awkward and slightly unbelievable considering we had £100K sitting at our solicitors as a down payment but there are reasons which I will explain further when we have signed.
Im wary of saying which property it is on an open board in case we get gazzumped.
I got it George. ;D
As my first act as a smallholder Im going to order 20 rescue chickens for the next collection in May. ;D
-
Well done, fingers crossed all goes well. :)
-
Thank you James. ;D Im just so excited!!!!!

Congratulations Rosemary :) Isnt it exciting?
Thank you all :)
I will certainly post a link to the place and keep you all informed about it and how it developes.
We cant move in straight away cos its in such a mess as it has been empty for a while and it is sooo damp fish could swim up the walls, but when done I plan on 7 or 8 bedrooms for us all.
Hubby, son and a few of our workers will camp out for a few weeks to get it just livable then we will move in and continue to develope it.
There are 4 generations going to be living there so thats bd for mum, bd for mums nurse (when the time comes) bd for daughter and hubby, bed for grandson, bed for son, bd for hubby and me, 2 guest bds (mother in law and brother in law)
Lol Annie Im a sucker for an animal in need. Hubby wants a rescue donkey too ( Im frightened of anything equine!)and the place already has 4 homeless cats that I will keep and neuter.
-
I'd love to have a donkey but I was told they are flea ridden things and stubborn, and they get lonely without company of their own kind - not unlike my dogs then ;) ;D ;D
-
Donkeys are great, never had one with fleas, great fun, although you need a companion for them, ideally a second donkey, but have known them teamed up with goats, sheep, and in one case a pig.
-
I bet you will find it difficult to sleep as its very exciting, you will be planning stuff all night! I kept going on about a rescue donkey, half jokeing and half seriouse, then I saw some pretend ones for nativity scenes and I would have loved to have popped one on my friends land, just as a joke, I can just see myself with a little donkey pulling a small trap!!!! The rescue chikens are fun, I love watching mine when its warmer, the pups have met them and seem to like them>
-
Son in laws parents own a few horses and ponies and have earmarked a ponyfor our grandson that will be transported to us when we get the donkey. So the donkey wont be lonely Hillarysmum and Annie :)
The pony comes complete with a little trap.
OH yes Sandy you are right Im not sleeping Im so excited and making planrs. Check the times Ive been posting on here lol. I even dream of getting a stock man helper to teach me all he knows, you know a nice retired guy who wants a little part time job lol
-

Annie if I do get a nice retired man to help out I will ask him if hes got a respectable retired brother/cousin/nephew just for you. ;) ;D ;D
-
Jackie - get a notebook and empty your head before you go to bed otherwise you'll get no sleep! Works for me, anyway.
-
She don't want a respectable one theres no fun in that is there Annie ;D ;D ;D ;D :farmer:
-
So long as he is financially secure, I have enough dependants as it is ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Annie, I know a retired man who is financially secure, but an absolute degenerate ;D Shall I give you his number? ;D
-
He will have to be approved by my dogs first- they are good judges of character ;D One false move and they'll have him by the
short and cur, em...... bal , em ....... scruff of his neck. ;)

Annie, the sad truth is, I think he may actually enjoy that! Told you he's a degenerate :-[
-
Don't believe in long distance relationships anyway ;D ;D ;D So you can tell him he's a had a narrow escape from the clutches of an ould witch from oop Nath. ;D ;D ;D
-
Who said anything about a relationship? ;D ;D ;D Sorry, shall I run away now before you hit me? ;D
-
