Title: Roup on Saturday
Post by: oor wullie on July 02, 2015, 10:33:09 am
For anyone who is interested in old farm machinery, horse drawn equipment etc there is a Roup on Saturday in Aberdeenshire involving enough stuff to fill several museums.

Full details including loads of photos on the Thainstone mart website.

I have been saving all my pocket money this year for such a sale so if anyone is going please don't bid against me!

I saw this and shared in on the TAS FB page. Some fab stuff - but quite a few photos of things that I have no idea what they were  ;D

Oh my

It's such a long time since I have heard of someone hoping a roup.

I am under strict instructions that when the time comes I have to have a roup to sell my dads s##t,  I mean worldly useful pieces of machinery

I am sure there will be enough stuff for both of us Verdifish.

I think I will have to pass on the combines and threshing machine as they won't fit on my trailer which is a shame.

I'm only allowed useful things so am keen on implements for my wee tractor as well as various spare parts etc.

I just find old machinery that works fascinating.

It is too far for me to go for a look on Friday so it will be an early start on Saturday.

Well    who went and what did you get , we must be told.
I stayed at home , stayed dry and Mrs Rupert the Bear was happy that I did not acquire any more stuff, useful or not

Well the weather was about as miserable as you could imagine, cold, very very wet and foggy.
I bought a Seller turnip planter, a useful bundle of chains and a useless bundle of broken top links (I was very wet and not paying proper attention!)

The thing that I learned was about the collectibility of old seats (metal ones with the makers name in them). Most (such as Albion etc) went for £80-90 but one by a maker called Ben Reid (Bon Accord Foundry, Aberdeen) went for £950. Apparently they are like hens teeth.

Enjoyable day out all the same.
