C'mon, Langdon - how long is a piece of string????? ::) Depends how much cider you want! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Hi Langdon,
we have 2 small trees which is plenty & I also scrounge a few if possible. Like dogandjo says - you can make a pint from half a dozen apples if you wish. We generally get about 10 gallons. If your looking for more info try this link: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/scrumpy/cider/cider.htm
A word of warning though - don't expect a clear head the morning after ;)

had one the other morning!
i was thinking it over to me self, a smallholding or farm is not the ideal place to waking
up with a hangover is it! even that night like say, what if something need your attention on
the farm and your hammererd! as said i do love me cider but i think just 1 or 2 is enough
wat do yoy think ;)

I personally think its amazing that whenever you are under the weather, whether or not it is self inflicted, something always needs your utmost attention urgently!

Has anyone had any good results making perry? What sorts of pears do i need to use? I've seen specific cider making pears but can i use any type? and how do you do it lol Can i make use of my dads garage as long as i dont keep it too near his car ;)

Hiya,
I have been making perry and cider for a few years and use whatever apples or pears I can get hold of, I have made some really good stuff and some very bad (turns your head inside out). It is a matter of trial and error and recording what apples or pears that you use, But different years different sugar levels in the fruit. The best thing to use is the pure juice and build or invest in a press.
Hope this helps.

What else do you need to add to the pear juice to turn it into cider and what is the process from start to finnish?
-
and build or invest in a press.
I use an electric garden shredder that takes apples whole to chop up, easly a bucket chucked in in one go, and then an electric clothes spinner to spin off the juice leaving nice dry pulp, and good juice extraction.
Fast simple and cheap
