Just that really, done everything as instructed in the book but just won't go ! Could the engine be flooded ? I know nothing about mechanical stuff !

After about a hundred 'pulls' it's going - don't know what made it 'right' but whatever it was my BH is delighted. I think 'flooding' or whatever might have been the trouble. How many 'pulls' before it should have a rest and for how long ? Long enough to post on TAS and Google for help methinks  ;)

Don't know about rotovators but my Mountfield Ride on has safety features.  If you breach just one of them it shuts down for 5 minutes.  Check the book or as my son says when I ask him questions 'Mother, R T F M!!!' :roflanim:

if put away with petrol still left in can cause a lot of trouble
run till it runs out before putting away

Replace the spark plug, cheap simple and often the fault.

Thanks JEP that sounds like it could have been at the root of the problem. Once BH got it started yesterday it was fine. Or perhaps it was the threat of the scrap heap that finally made it spring into life  ;)
