I've already got harness for Smokey, with a breast collar. Anyone know where I can get panniers so he can go for the shopping (not on him own!), collect seaweed (again accompanied)?
Also, if he was going to pull a harrow, would he need a full collar or would a breast collar be OK?
Thanks

Seaweed Rosemary? He's a Pony not a seahorse! ;D

Here's their website...http://www.journeyman-leather.co.uk/
Open the product finder and click on Klibber. I'm sure they could be made to fit a Highland pony.
We get some very good deposits of kelp on the beaches here, especially after an easterly storm.
For chain harrows, I'd definitely use a full collar as this would spread the considerable weight more evenly. I have a collar which may fit to give you a start, and I have hames and a back band too. You'd be welcome to try them, and I may sell them for a few quid if you wanted them.

Just had a happy time looking at the Journeyman site. The Klibber looks perfect. When's Christmas again...

My elderley neighbour walks his Fell pony to the village shop, and the pony has panniers on. Thats about 13hh, so someone must make them for bigger ponies. I have some for my llama, proper llama ones, and they are huge, and would probably fit a pony.
We have a broller collar we use on our Dales and Fell ponies to chain harrow. This is a french collar, like a cross between a collar and breast collar I suppose. I have used the harrows with her pulling in her breast collar. She is a big strapping girl and can do it whatever she is wearing.

Thanks, Roxy and Steve.
Any suppliers names, Roxy?

The journeyman site is quite good, I love the look of the pony sandals - as a barefoot horse owner and fan they look ideal for occasional use on stony/hard ground.
Full collars are always used here on working horses whether they are just pulling a cart or plowing/harrowing.
