We were once told this happens when a hen cannot control the pelvic muscles and that if it continues then she's on her last legs.
Would be interesting to find out if that's actually true.

One of mine lays a wrinkled egg every day, and has done for about three years i think - normal sized though. I don't know which one it is and they are mixed ages from 2 years to 7 years. 8 eggs a day from 9 oldies isn't bad. :innocent:

we don't get wrinkled eggs but every 5 weeks or so we do get a massive one like yours...also from a hybrid but not sure which one. Then next day all back to normal for another 5 weeks! sometimes the mega-egg is a double yolker but not always. Im not seeing any signs of my mega-egg-layer popping her clogs yet!

I get some of these every couple of weeks mine have been laying them for years
