Sick of it now >:( Go away snow!
-
Hello we are still missing it in Grimsby but reverting to the vernacular Its bluddi kode ;D :farmer:
-
It's stopped now, but I was planning to sow stuff in the greenhouse :-\
-
We still have some snow left here but the worst thing is all the water and mud everywhere. Had to have the car dragged off the field by a tractor a couple of days ago and still can barely push the wheel barrow so can't get the animals mucked out properly yet.
Still the horses are enjoying splashing in the mud at the moment and the weather is much milder than it was a few weeks ago.
-
It actually went nice here, glorious sunshine and milder temp, and that's why I'm grumpy, because it looked like then end of winter, and then today it's not! Bulgaria has a temperate climate like ours, doesn't it, or does it have a longer winter?

Yes we have a temperate climate and 4 distinct seasons. The winters can be colder and harsher but in reality are a little shorter than the UK, - January and February are the worst months, July and August can see temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, so I'll be complaining about the heat about that time lol
Looking forward to wearing my summer clothes again as we live in shorts from april to october usually
-
I am freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezin AGAIN, the heating bill with be enormouse!!!
-
At least you've got a decent summer, Suzy! Seems such a long time awayyyyyy.... :P
-
been snowing here off and on all day today and I am thoroughly fed up with it.. fields are all flooded as heavy soil and i'm slopping about in ankle deep mud. Hens are huddled under their coop, pigs are staying in their arc and horses wanted to come in by 3pm... hurry up summer!!
-
About 4 inches of snow here. Had to put some planking down because the chooks didn't want to come out and walk in the snow, lol!
-
I saw some snowdrops just about to open the other day .....they are under 2" of snow again now . I am so sick of this now ...I am almost at my witsend with it !!! I think it was the knee problem that really made things bad for me ..but this weather is 'doing my ed in' to use the modern vernacular ....The weather forecasters seem to say that it is going to be like this for the next few days at least !!! :'( :'( :'(
cheers

Oh we have more bloody snow here now, this is the last thing business needs.
-
Yeh, -6 in some places apparently! The postman was grumbling to me today about damp shoes, bless him ;D I'm just glad I didn't decide to plant some things in the ground, they would've died in this snow. :-\
-
Fingers and toes crossed still none in Grimsby :farmer:
-
A beautiful day here and things melting very fast so we've been out digging ditches to stop the garden flooding. About 20 degrees C in the sun and I'm all pink!
Hope it continues ;D
-
It's snowing again.. More forecast for next 5 days.... Ahhhh I hate this weather
-
C'mon guys ...don't hate the snow...for a little while it turns even the ugliest of landscapes into wonderland and lifts the spirits of children and older folk...it hides the depressing looking mud and brightens the skyline...sure its a pain having to cope with it and when its melting its horrible...but would you rather have endless rain?
Nature needs a good cold spell every now and again and for sure we will all enjoy the Spring and Summer much more when they arrive...even if its just because it isn't snowing and the air feels warmer!
Anyway...we're smallholders...a hardy breed...capable of coping with anything that nature can throw at us...even if it is because we simply don't know any better!!
Philosophical Farmer, :farmer:
-
Your right Farmer, at least it hides the mud and for a day or two I get clean eggs.
-
I get clean eggs
What are they?? ;D
mine allways seem to be minging, even with the house cleaned out, (i need to do it again, but it's frozen.
at least they are fresh, everyone gets used to woodshaving in scrabbled eggs :D
-
I have one over you there Cameron I detest fryed egg ;D :farmer:
-
Majority of our snow has gone overnight so I can now see my small winter veg patch!
Mud everywhere but the ditches we dug yesterday have at least kept most of the water away from the house.
-
You're right farmer was just having a bad day. Snow has mostly melted and today is a beautiful bright sunny day. shame about the oceans of mud but hell the pigs seem to love it
-
I made a BIIIIGGGGG mistake yesterday The COPD nurse came to check on me and I let her go out the front. So?I had left Su out of her shed and she had a 1/4" of ice all over her this morning at 8.00am She was a good Su though and started first spin not like Miri's Landie ;D ;D :farmer:
-
Shall I rephrase what I said then? I don't hate snow, I just hate it when I expect it NOT to snow, and it flippin does! :P
-

we had about 3 inches of snow yesterday. I got up around 7 and went out to do horses, pigs and chickens, was in a rush as my niece was being christened so had to muck out and get done well in time for me to shower and change and guess what... we forgot to turn the outside taps off and the feeds to the auto drinking troughs.. you guessed it the blxxdy water pipe had come off the fitting for the pig water trough and water was gushing into the pig pen. Thankfully was able to turn off in the house and sort out when we got back from the christening as the trough was full so pigs had enough water for the day... but the pigs now have a frozen lake in the middle of the pig pen..These are the reasons why I hate the snow and cold. Roll on spring time please, it's a darn hard frost again here today.. and yes I turned the taps off last night thankfully..
-
I recon we had 2/3" judging by the snow on the shed roof I didn't go in an find a ruler just comparing it to a finger and its all gone off the roofs and road but its lying in the grass ??? ??? ??? :farmer:
-
not despairing pigles .....(says he swinging by a rope from the branch of a tree !!!!)... but I am just sooo p*ssed off with this weather . We had everything here today ...freezing wind ( well it was cold), rain, sleet, snow . Alright that isn't everything !! we didn't have mud slides or earth quakes and the local volcano hasn't erupted for at least a week now , but it felt like everything . Today was rough .... it felt like winter !!! eh what .. it IS ??? oh right !! I saw more snow drops today ....(no the flowers, not wet snowflakes) , so someone may have heard my order for spring to be delivered.....SOOOOOON please .
cheers

I was delayed three hours at Luton Airport last night because they had to close it for four hours in the morning. I believe they had a fifth of a centimeter of snow ;) ;D ;D ;D
-
you have my sympathies Paul ......I hate the stuff . They said we could get 6" here today or tonight maybe , so we aren't out of the woods yet ... but a foot , please not down here ... The wind has gone and it is much warmer now , does that mean good or bad ?
cheers

Nothing here in Grimsby Is that 2m/m or about 1/8 of a inch Annie. One of our friends on here said shes coming Gy way today well North Killingholme anyway its nearly Gy I don't think it will snow it doesn't look like a snow sky :farmer:
-
Russ - in my experience when the freezing wind stops and it gets a bit milder snow is definately on the way ::)
We've got it AGAIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe only 3 or 4 inches, but that's only been in the last 3 hours ! It's coming down hard and fast - the report's said 6 inches (did I believe it and go out and stock up ? eh, well - no !) We'll just have to wait and see how much we get this time !
I REALLY want it to be spring - had been planning my planting for the raised beds and we were even going to set up the polytunnel today lol! Not now we're not ;)
Ah, the wonder of the great british weather 8)

Hey up Happy or is it miserable Hippy Allegedly (I do so love that word) 21st of March is the first day of spring and thats a month away Oh dear and I am so lookin forward to it ??? :farmer:
-
yes that was what I was thinking Karen .... but we are snow free here still this morning. It is still much warmer than it has been for the last couple of days . It rained a fair bit last night ,and that took away any snow that was on the fields still , but it is dry so far this morning , no early morning soaking walking the dogs at least !!.
I hope your snow goes soon Karen , or at least you don't get too much more !!!
cheers

-
just seen the weather on BBC , they say that over the next day or so , in the highlands , anything up to around 18" of snow to be expected , with villages possibly cut off and deep drifting due to very strong winds....batten down the hatches , and get stocked up FAST !!! lol.
cheers

Since Christmas Eve I have only managed to get my car out for 5 days and that was last week, now we are back to deep snow, frozen buckets and field troughs so very fed up. Still have not been to our friends for Christmas Dinner. She did joke that it could be Easter and at this rate she may be right.
