Title: Hanging Basket Veg
Post by: quixoticgeek on May 19, 2015, 10:15:13 pm

I have a pair of hanging baskets that normally are home to Tumbler tomatoes. Due to germination failures I only have 1 tomato plant. This leaves me with an empty hanging basket. The basket is a 12" self watering hanging basket (http://amzn.to/1L7wsGm), hanging at about 7ft off the ground (bracket is at 8ft), on a south westerly facing wall, which is very warm and light in summer.

Can anyone suggest good veg (or otherwise edible) options for a hanging basket? Bonus if I can make it an attractive display.

Thanks

J

Google suggests bush cucumbers such as 'Vega' or 'Fanfare', chilli peppers, cut-and-come-again lettuce such as 'Salad Bowl', basket tomatoes, strawberries, peas, and dwarf beans.

I vote for Strawberries (I know they aren't veg) .. Mmmm

I second dwarf beans, mine were great in containers last year.

Have just planted some Dwarf Bean "Mascotte", Nasturtium, and Basil. Will see if I can make these into some sort of nice looking combo.
