Title: Lamb with sharp tooth
Post by: Emmam on April 30, 2015, 10:43:54 am
One of my newborn lambs has a sharp tooth and mum will not let her feed.  We have milked out some colostrum and fed that - her twin is feeding happily.   Has anyone ever filed down a sharp tooth?

Are you sure it's the tooth that's the problem and not mastitis?  Might be worth consulting your vet.

A lamb when feeding ,rolls its tongue on top of its teeth to get suction , so  a sharp tooth shouldn't matter , are you sure the ewe isn't rejecting the lamb ?

No not mastitis I have checked - she is a good mum and keen on both lambs.  Tooth is incredibly sharp though.   Will call our local sheep farmer and ask his advice tomorrow.
