Hi there. Does anybody have any chocolate orp bantam hatching eggs please? I've got some in my incy at the moment ( fingers crossed!!) but would be interested in setting some more for unrelated stock. Many thanks

Chocolate Orp Bantams amongst their breeds and I can vouch for the quality of the hatching eggs (well the ones I've had - not had any bantams from them).

Thanks Hester, will give them a go. I've got 2 VERY broody Pekins-might as well give them a job for 3 weeks!!!

See I was wondering what was happening - I haven't had a properly broody hen yet this year. Even my stalwart who hatched geese and chickens for me last year and went broody in February the previous year and ended up sitting for nearly two months before hatching anything is no inclined. Could really do with one because they do a much better job with the goose eggs than I can in the incubator! At this rate the geese will have stopped laying before I have any volunteers....
Good luck with your two! Gillian will do you a mixed bunch of eggs if you fancy a surprise. My last hatch of last year - after I got bored of hatching my own - ended up as a pair of Dorkings, a Lakenvelder hen, a Copper Black Marans hen and two Cream Legbar hens. Five hens, beautiful range of coloured eggs (the Marans in particular is laying amazing chocolate brown eggs - better than the Cuckoo Marans) and only one cockerel who is stunning and living quite happily with an Orpington cockerel in my main laying flock. What more could I ask for?
