I was outside last night at about 9:30, and saw something very unusual: a very bright streak of white / blue light a bit like a firework falling downwards. It also wiggled a bit, rather than move in a completely straight line.
It probably only lasted a second, and my first thought was shooting star. However, this looked really close - only about 40 metres away, and about twice the height of the tree tops.
Any ideas folks?

A firework? ::)

Are you anywhere near Bonnybridge?
-
We're a long way from any neighbours who might be letting off fireworks, and also I didn't see or hear anything else.
We're fairly close to Bonnybridge though Rosemary - Why?

Space station?

Having been there on a Friday night, I'm inclined to agree with you Fleecewife. However, on reflection I think that might have more to do with a) drunk people and b) Cumbernauld Airport being just over the hill!
Definitely not the space station Doganjo. This was like you might see a spark coming out of a bonfire, sort of like a light travelling in a squiggly line that lasted for about a second and then went out. However, it was bright white / blue, and went downwards towards the earth, and looked as though it was only about twice as high up as the trees.
I think if the space station had gotten that close, I'd have known about it ;D .
BTW, It also set the peacocks off, so if I imagined it, so did they!

Might it have been a helicopter landing. I think they switch their downwards lights on and it would appear to be stationary as it would be hovering ready to descend.

Noticed any wee stick men on the farm today? :innocent: Or men with white coats? :roflanim: :roflanim:
-
Now you come to mention it Annie, I've been seeing men in white coats all day today..... but then my office is just across from the R&D lab ;)
Definitely not a helicopter or similar. Really more like a small firework.
Perhaps if a very high helicopter had dropped a sparkler??

Just as well we've got Trident to deter them ::)

Does that mean all that extra money is for wings for the subs? :eyelashes: :innocent: :roflanim:

All joking aside (if that's possible ::)) I have seen three times now a strange light in the sky over our land. Imagine a cycle light, about that size, hovering. I tried to explain it a sister who, sounding just like my mother, said, nonsense, it's a star. But a star twinkles and is always there, this light is constant and occasional. It's a helicopter hovering. But they make a noise and this is silent in a silent landscape. After half to one hour it moves, silently toward the south east and disappears.

Friend of my mum a few years ago phoned up in the early hours in a RIGHT state. "There's lights in the sky! I don't know what's happening! UFOs? ! No, nothing like fireworks.
No she hadn't been drinking. But was properly wound up. My mum drove over, by this time the lights had moved off :innocent:
But, being determined to show my mum that she wasn't mad, she said where they seemed to have gone to, so they drove off in the direction she suggested...
Then mum saw it too. Swirling lights, different colours, and as they got closer, looked like shapes, or birds, witches, something, flying in about them..? What the hell was this?
...drove closer still, cars stopped at the side of the road, people watching what was going on!
They were stopped by a guys in yellow jackets. Was this really some government coverup? Other cars parked up, people standing and watching what was happening.
Turned out they were filming a episode of Dr. Who. :D

The new Star Wars trailer is out - where was it being filmed :roflanim: :roflanim: :roflanim:

Could it be someone out a long way away on a hillside with a rifle /shotgun with sound moderator fitted and a lamping lamp or rifle mounted spot light . In the same vein a motorbike on a hill road?
One thing we do occasionally get is space craft debris burning up real bright as it comes in through the atmosphere ..much slower than a shooting star and much whiter as it is aluminium alloys etc not iron .
-
Possibly a drone .
'They' are watching ! lol .

It's not a UFO story but, 7 years ago, when I moved into my 16 century cottage.... every night as I walked into the bedroom I would hear a man sighing behind me.... just at that point, never any other time.
The house had been there 4 centuries, it had seen more lives that I could dream of...... and so it went on, my ghostly man following me into my bedroom..... UNTIL
DA DA DAAAAA!!!

I realised that I brush my teeth and go to the loo before I go to bed and there was a airlock in the loo that sounded just like a man sighing!
