I am lookin for a Poll Dorset ewe, to acompany my ram (Larry). I have only 1 and it is a pet but he desperatly needs a mate. I live in the south west of Somerset, transport is a issue so delivery would be nessary. Larry is round about three years old so ovisalie i do not want a really old ewe. Any help or info would be greatly appresiated.  ;D

urm.....is he entire? Have you a registered holding number etc? I know several people in your area that could help but please tell me how long he has been alone and why?
Often lone pet rams are dangerous when confronted with other humans of sheep....I know....one nearly broke my leg about 15 years ago

Lol. No i think u r getting the wrong end of the sick. He is a rescued ram. He was in very poor condition when we got him. But we have had a vet working along side us 2 get him fit and well again. That is why we are looking now to get him a friend he has been with other sheep b4 and is fine round them and as for humans he's brilliant he is almost like a dog lol. Yes i have got a holding number i sorted all that out through my vey with defra. So he is more than ready for a friend now. We are not using the sheep for breeding purposes or anything, just so he has got a friend.

Get him TWO friends, can also be wethers if you don't want to breed. If two are fighting a third one will often intervene and sort them out. Also if your ram is entire, you can only use wethers, or there will be lambs...

OK....No probs! If he is a wether...ie castrated, I know of a couple of pet ewes looking for a home! If he is an entire ram I am afraid he will need a couple of wethers for company and a very secure field or he will always be looking for ladies once he is back in full health!.....I will also say the ram that nearly broke my leg was someones pet, and very friendly etc until one day he just went for a passing human....me!
