Title: Handmade Slate signs
Post by: HappyHippy on February 06, 2010, 06:48:31 pm
Now that all the biz of the festive season is over I'm back in full scale production (well, as full scale as I can be  ;))
So it's another shameless plug I'm afraid !

Please see below for some of the designs - for the whole shebang have a wee look at my website.

The signs are handmade from scottish slate, the designs are carved by hand, before being painted then varnished to protect them.
The larger signs are approx 12 inches by 6 inches while the smaller ones are 8 inches by 6 inches. Larger ones are possible by mounting the slates onto wooden backing (please contact me for details) I can make house signs, stable signs, garden signs, standing signs, hanging signs etc and have a range of design motifs and text styles - pretty much whatever you want.
Large signs £25 + £5 P&P  Small signs £15 + £3.50

Thanks for looking folks,
Karen x

Hi Chris,
The thickness varies, but they're around 1cm (1/2 inch in old money  ;))
Hope that helps,
Karen

Not yet HM  ;) Although I did go to a couple of Christmas fairs at the school, local village open day and a hospice which went well. I might look into the farmers market idea, it'd be an excuse for a day out !  :o
So far it's been mainly word of mouth and TAS, occaisionally ebay too - but I've branched out to River Cottage forum also so that should keep me busy  ;D

I bought one of your signs and it is looking great.
Thinking of buying one for selling my eggs now, only trouble being how to show the price per doz as a temp thing as they can't remain the same price all the time with the price of feed.

what if you had a space underneath the eggs for sale sign and used chalk to display your prices?

Hi Kaz,
Ffion bet me with the suggestion of leaving a blank space  ;D
I could leave a space for the amount and just put "per 6 /12" then you could write on the price with chalk pens (or plain chalk) and change as need be.
Here's a link to the pens http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PENTEL-WET-ERASE-CHALK-PEN-IN-WHITE-THICK-NIB_W0QQitemZ130365554618QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_BOI_Office_Office_Supplies_Stationery_ET?hash=item1e5a647fba (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PENTEL-WET-ERASE-CHALK-PEN-IN-WHITE-THICK-NIB_W0QQitemZ130365554618QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_BOI_Office_Office_Supplies_Stationery_ET?hash=item1e5a647fba)
Hope that helps,

Can highly recommend these signs.  Karen's done a great job on the two for my nephews - which I must get around to delivering soon!
