My first sow farrowed last week. One of her teats has a cut and has been bleeding. Should I put something on it or leave it be do you think?
Also when can the little ones go out? Mum has access to her outside area but I put a plank along the bottom to keep the little ones in.

Leave it be if its not a big cut, otherwise spray a little iodine on it, a touch won't hurt the weaners.
You can let them out as soon as you judge they are on their feet well enough and alert enough to find their way back to shelter. They should certainly be able to do this after a week
HTH :)

Great, will do- thankyou

I'd be inclined to keep using antibiotic spray at regular intervals until it crusts over. Teat damage is an excellent entry point for mastitis.

Are the piglets doing it? My first experience of it this year. I belive that's why the teeth are clipped in a 'unit'
