is anyone else having the annoying problem that we have with mud and all this
rain?????
it makes things so difficult on our bit of land.
im at the mo trying to get a path finished which leads from the gates straight
through up to the animal sheds.
ive nearly finished the foundation which i dug a foot deep.
we are on heavy clay with a pan below the surface, leading to really bad drainage.
but the foundation has nearly filled up with rain!!!!
my intention is to fork in loads of sand and smashed up rock stone and what have you,
to improve the drainage below, then to fill it up with chippings and stone, hopefully
resulting in a nice walkway through the plot.
pls let me know if im being lead down the wrong path!!!!!!!!! ;)

Sounds OK to me - you are possibly displacing the water to somewhere else though, but that may not matter. ???

try some duckboards the less mud to shift the better your back.

Depends if you are wanting a permanent solution or a temporary one. I have used duck boards in my chicken run with success as a temporary measure but am now at the point of hard landscaping for a permanent fix.

what are duckboards!! ???

imagine a cut down pallet layed over the mud. its how the ww1 soldiers managed in the trenches. it it only temp but if it allows the ground dry out your work will be easier.
