Title: laurel any good for burning?
Post by: bloomer on March 26, 2015, 03:26:46 pm
hi

i thought i would ask you guys as its not on my woods to burn list :-)

is laurel (the nasty thuggy thing with bright green leaves) any good for log fires?

as i have a couple of older very woody specimens to remove and it would be a shame to waste the wood if its ok? and if its not ok i can't be bothered to log it all up!

thanks
bloomer

Fine as long as it's properly seasoned. It contains cyanide which diminishes as it seasons - never burn it green in an enclosed space, or where you'll inhale smoke.

Spits like buggery .low heat .poisoness as Dan said ,needs 2 good years to season so I wouldn't bother !
