I'm curious can i ask why you don't want them to be able to have a little flap about? It;s just we have a fair few hens etc and have never done this ours are free range and go everywhere away off up the fields with the ducks etc. Hope you don't think i'm being rude or cheeky as i'm not trying to be.
cheers Gavin

I clipped my three LS hens, it stopped them flying all right so my big German Wirehair managed to get two of them! Not doing that again. With their flight feathers they might have a better chance if she gets out by mistake again. By the way did you know the longest known flight of a chicken is 47 seconds? Per Guinness Book of Records. ;D

our plot is only small as said before, the acre is split in to two plots.
first half out the back garden for the veg, across the road for the animals.
our next door neighbour who has a vast amount amount of sorounding acres
for dairy farming, plus our house and where the chucks are is on a main busy road,
so just looking out for them, one or two have allready taken flight over their run.
i know one or two people who have lost some chucks by letting them wander on road
or what have you, i just dont think its worth lossing any.
they are happy and content little things, bless them. ;) :chook:

Won't clip mine. It might save them if Mr Fox come to visit and they can get onto the trampoline... :chook:

Have never clipped mine either. It's great seeing them flap around and try to get on the lowest branches of the trees ;D I think they think they're woodpigeons or something. Great bit of trivia there, Annie!
