Title: Whats going on????
Post by: sandy on January 27, 2010, 08:58:52 pm
Not big on reading newspapers for loads of reasons but do listen to the radio and TV and this week heard and read on the Newspapers put out for the pups:-

Recession is ending! ???
Figures for people out of work is lower now, (How is that?, I know, more are on long term sickness...doh!!!)
Less Child poverty than there was
House prices beginning to rise ::)
Fall in rates of super bugs in Hospitals
Theatres have been doing really well
Crime rate has dropped... :o

I think these are examples of how statistics can be made to show whatever is required by who ever will benefit from them.........

I think that's a wee bit unfair, Chris.  A lot of folk have lost jobs - there is a recession, I can see its effects in the supermarkets - all of them have these big signs saying 'this for £1, that for £1 etc etc' There are often big reductions on loads of the same thing that would have sold easily previously and now their buyers have to sell them at a loss to get rid.  I think if the recession hasn't turned the corner we might see another few biggies fall.  There are more wingers about now you're right about that but a lot of people have stuff to winge about.  I count myself lucky as a pensioner - I can't lose my job and the Government and the NHS can't cut my pensions, but I CAN take advantage of cut price offers and reductions.
However, I think all the hype about the recession being on the turn is a ploy to encourage it to turn - as well as encouraging people to turn out and vote - a reasonable turn out may help Gordon Brown to keep his post!

Type in the goggle box This is Grimsby then interrogate the pages and see how many wards had to be closed at the Diana Princess of Wales Hospital this year and we are not out of January yet

DOn't think there are any more jobs, just people not claiming Job Seekers so must be on courses, education or on some other training scheme, the rest may be on sickness benefits so not able to work, so what they really mean there are less people seeking work.

I know I also do some work as well as being self employed, sometimes it does not pay at all...I dip in and o ut of work just to keep my brain going!!!!!

I also heard that the divorce rate was down too, but they failed to mention that far less are actually getting married now! Reposessions haven't dried up, nor will they for a long time. Bankers seem to be getting their big bonus, I get really depressed with the way we are governed at the moment.

Sandy I'm not the sharpest knife in the block but Government employment figures ah ah ah!!!!!!!! So I know we will send em to be additionally educated (I appreciate some want to go to college to learn more)but many to enable them to get the maximum Soch So Remove all these people who are teaching these people and put them on social security How much have I saved now?All the buildings that have been built and adapted for this.I dare not think what has been spent in Lincoln and in Grimsby for what? I honestly try not to think of it really. The job is not there I'm sorry you are to educated for this job we only need someone to move crates um um!

Well I suppose it counts as cardiovascular exercise  ;D Although if you haven't had exercise for a long time, you should probably do it in short bursts *stifles giggles*

OK ::) OK ::)That is a good excuse, I suppose we (females) can be a bit Victorian and think of England...not sure what the Scots, Irish and Welsh do!!!!! I know that women are different species to men....Men from Mars, Women from Venus!!! WOmenn like (turned on by) conversation, romantic situations such as holding hands in the moonlight, "shopping" together....Men just are practicle and ASK!!! so when a women is doing her shopping, cooking cleaning or just being a mother...how can she suddenly adjust????? ??? ???
