I am so excited, and equally terrified - we have our first boar arriving on Sunday morning. Also, and I am not quite sure how this happened, but he is bringing one of his wives with him :innocent: :pig: :innocent:

;D good luck. Are you planning to breed?

Yes, it has been pretty challenging finding a Large Black boar for our exisiting sows so far, and neither of them show the slightest sign of being in season unless a boar is about, so AI hasn't been an option, so we decided to go for it.

So three sows and a boar?
Yes, although I am determined to keep it at that!

Yup, good luck with that! :innocent:
You might find he can earn his keep by offering his services as a stud boar... You'd need a separate area, away from your other sows where you could take visiting sows (and it's worth having it approved as an isolation pen so it doesn't restrict movements to the same extent) We have a little field by the house for our kunekune boar - well away from everything else and he also has his honeymoon suite in the shed for the winter time. If you can keep him working regularly it'll keep his fertility up and his mind occupied
I actually passed your name to a man from one of the Islands today - he was looking to get his sow (another Diana) in-pig, so there's your first paying customer  If you don't get a message from him let me know and I'll give you his email address.
Kx

You wont keep it at 3 sows and a boar ;D. Pigs collect like Highland ponies! You just run that nice gilt on from a litter, then you have another litter and there's another nice gilt and so on ;D
