as you've always been so helpful in the past :)
I need to fix a wooden aviary panel to brick-whats the best way to do this please?
-
drill wood
use a nail or something through the hole to mark the wall
use a drill with a masonary bit and hammer action to drilla 50mm deep hole in the wall
put a raw plug in the hole
screw through wood into rawplug
if you want more details ask

LF, just to build on what Bloomer said, you may need quite a long screw to accommodate the thickness of the timber and go into a reasonably deep hole in the brick.
Frame Fixings (http://www.screwfix.com/c/screws-nails-fixings/frame-fixings/cat840068) are designed for exactly that job - fixing window frames into brickwork.

OK, so if you already have suitable screws and rawlplugs they'll work perfectly well. However, if I had to go out and buy bits specifically for this job, these are what I would use.

womble speaks wise words
frame fixings are easy to use as you drill the hole then hammer them in easy
i was thinking about what lives in my tool bag...

goodness, quick replies, thank you :) I think we have the latter as we used them to put in some tie rings. or I'll just wait for Bloomer to come back ;)

If its 2 by 2 wall bolt .Just drill and fix no wall plug needed but very strong .
-
As above. I would always use these for this type of job. Just drill the hole and screw the bolt in, job done.
