Title: Pedigree Jersey cow, 5 years old, Haslemere, Surrey.
Post by: sammy on February 12, 2015, 12:43:01 pm

Dulcie cannot calve due to an unusually narrow vagina. I was told by the vet it would be fatal for her were she ever to attempt to calve. So she is a much loved pet, however I now find myself with insufficient barn space for her as I have sheep also. I am looking for a kind, experienced forever home, with the company of another bovine of any age or breed. Dulcie has no horns by the way.
I am asking for £200 for her just to try and attract serious enquiries only. I cannot transport her so you will have to organise her collection from me.

Oh dear.  Poor Dulcie and poor you.  She looks so sweet.

I presume she still comes a-bulling every 21 days?  So it's hard to think of what sort of place would be able to offer her a suitable home...

I don't blame you for trying, though.

Would not normally suggest this but how about a petting farm?

Thanks for suggestion but I used to work on one and on most of them, the day to day stuff is done by kids so I wouldn't trust her to be cared for properly

Have you tried one of the vet schools? I studied at Cambridge and they and two Jersey type cows which were used to teach the students about husbandry and general handling / check ups etc.

There aren't many schools in the UK but you could guarentee a happy and health life

There are also rare breed farms - we've one near Ashford (Kent) that I guess might be interested? Mind you, they're a charity so I don't think they'd pay a lot for a cow they couldn't breed from but probably best to concentrate on the forever home rather than the price.
