My goats are kept in their field (not that they have been out much lately) with sheep netting and a top electric wire (mains powered). They have certainly touched it and so far not tried to escape. We will probbaly have to use tape at some point later in the year to sub-divide their field, but will need to think about it.

Opinions about using it are fairly divided, but I use electric tape with good results for my Shetland and cross sheep.

Forgot to answer this one yesterday! We used to use a two strand electric fence, inside the goats field, to keep them off the actual fence, as it was a solid fence. They did respect it, and had no problems.
