Title: scabby again
Post by: shygirl on January 13, 2015, 08:30:54 pm
my billy has scabby pasterns again, same as last year.
for the first time he also has a scab on his nostril, and a slighty snotty nose from same nostril. are these likely to be connected?
im trying to remember what the vet told me to inject for this last year - noromectin??

hes bedded on straw and fed hay, (plus hard feed and veg). is there anyway to prevent this reoccurring or is it a case of injecting earlier? he is possibly itchy as he scratches a fair bit.
he lives with a nanny and she is fine.
thanks

Heel (chorioptic )mange can affect single goats that share pens with others. It is treated with Eprinex (cattle)pour-on. Seems to work.

The scab on his nose may well be orf, or just general winter dry skin. My BT's had orf this autumn and their noses still look a bit scabby, as the hair hasn't grown back. I am not treating this at all and hope it will sort itself by summer.
