Hope everyone in one piece after the blustery night.
-
We are all in one piece here and thankfully still have power too, hope everyone else is ok :fc:
-
Poor old you! I heard about your storms but just had a bit of a stiffish breeze here. Out turn will come though, no doubt.
-
It was wild, alright :o
But so far, apart from licky buckets still to be rounded up and one slate off the farmhouse roof, all seems ok :relief:
-
I get pretty nasty winds were I live, sometimes a lot of slates get blown off the roof. The wind here has been ok, it was almost gale like a week ago. Hope your all ok
-
I think we've missed the worst of it here on the East. Hope everyone is OK :fc:
-
Just got power back on.
Half of the barn roof is now two fields away and OH is frantically trying to find somewhere to put all the hay that was in there. Animals seem okay but I'm keeping everything crossed that my goat holds her pregnancy as they were in the other side of the barn and lots of debris fell around them :(

:fc: clydesdaleclopper that your goaty girl is ok
-
power just back on here too but for how long who knows......it all starts again tonight!
I recorded 74mph at 11.30pm, was out tying down stuff at 2am, 4am we couldnt stand up but speeds recorded at 113mph so hardly surprising.
one of our pig arks, the big heavy needs to be moved with a tractor type has gone through the fence and some roof damage to goats sheds but other than that we are in not bad shape :fc:
-
all ok here.. I have picked up stuff that has blown about... the caravan did shoogle quite a bit.. but I am used to it now.. which worries me as I may wake up one day and find myself somewhere else!?
-
Glad to hear you are all coping ok. It has been fearsome windy for some of you! It us just dank mizzle here with a bit of a breeze.
-
The wind roared here all night, sounds like a freight train - I get quite scared when it does that, even though we're safe inside a solid stone house. The wind was strong enough to bring branches and small trees down, but not for whole large trees to fall.
Most stuff which could blow away has already done so over the years. Haven't checked the slates yet, but the roof is waiting for a rebuild so slates off is likely.
Our power went off in the night, so I have a bread maker full of soggy dough. Power's still off but we have a gennie so, tada, here I am ;D Scottish power 'think' they will have power restored by 4 this afternoon, but we'll see.
I was thinking of those of you further north and west, getting the full force of the wind - good to hear those with power are ok - hope everyone else is too.
Update - yep, loads of slates off the roof :( It's forecast to remain windy for a few more days yet, so too dangerous to go clambering about up there and we'll probably have a wet attic.
We can see them replacing the downed pole further down the hill, so hopefully we'll have power by dinner time :yum: I wonder if I can save that bread?
-
Pretty much a gale here now, and the poor vet is just about to come to read the TB test results on our three cows -- hope they'll still follow a bucket to the crush in this!
-
Just very wet and breezy last night , couldn't cook dinner so just had a sarnie . Windy and showers today but in general not bad , very mild so can't complain .
I have some cash and the mobile chip van is in the village tonight , so sausage and chips later . Hope the rain holds off while i walk down to get them .
-
haha just after I wrote my last post our power went off again!
back on now so have been to pick up more petrol for the gennie
on the way down in the car the only radio station I could pick up was Isles FM so got the low down on how the islands fared, their weather station thing got destroyed! police and coastguard warning people to stay indoors tonight but then heavy snow to follow over the weekend. :cold:
-
Haha I spoke to soon..... The strong winds have started again!
-
wev just spent the evening taking a fallen tree off of a neighbours garage. whoops.
does anyone know a handyman who can cut the remaining ones back - Aberdeenshire/grampian area.
-
Quite nasty here last night, but no really bad damage. A tile (maybe two) off the roof, the sheep escaped into the garden because the little gate blew open, oh and my chiminea has been caught by a gust of wind and broken :-[
But in the grand scheme of things, all ok. Wasn't as bad as the 100miles an hour we had a couple of years ago. Then, I could see the front door flex in the wind which was horrible!

pretty windy here too and more of the same today! we are quite lucky at the moment that we dont really have much stuff outdoors that needs securing. We have lost a few roof tiles though. I have to go out to work in an hour which im really not looking forward to, my car is quite tall!!
-
forecast is for more of the same pretty much right through til next weekend! snow and hail and thunder, aswell as gales today.
we had a measurement of 114.1mph a couple of miles away on Thursday night from a neighbours weather station thingy.
we have been lucky and had only minor damage so far :fc:

Lost my forge/ workshop roof which landed on the corner if the barn which has smashed the roof ,but nothing hurt so it could have been worse !!!
