Hi,
Does anyone know were I can get a sharps bin from as i have 14 sheep and need a place to put needles and medical containers. I an near Berkshire and only need it to be collected one a year but may depend on size. Any advice and prices would be great.
Thank you,
Hugo

As I understand it you need to keep discarded sharps safe - there's not obligation to dispose of them at regular intervals. Ours go into a pot in a vetmed cabinet - haven't run out of room yet.

Your vet can order one in for you, i think mole valley sell them but not sure
-
Your vet should be able to get you one and take it from you when full :)

Unless you buy your medicines elsewhere when she may tell you to bugger off!

Or charge you :)

I bought a wee sharps bin from Ebay very cheaply, but I'll be honest, I hadn't thought through how to get rid of it when full!
If the vet won't take it, do you know any diabetics? :innocent:

Or BOTH! :excited:

When I was on wafarin and heparin injections I managed to fill up a small sharps bin myself, I took both it and my full livestock one to the clinic to hand them in :innocent:
They were so not impressed that they wouldnt take either :roflanim:
I still have them both sat in the cupboard!

Good idea, not many diabetics using 2" 16 g needles though!

I got mine from vet and dispose of them there too

I got mine from the vet too. It cost about £12 because that includes disposal when its full but it will be years before I fill it up.

And not many medical receptionists who'll open up a sealed sharps bin to measure them either! ;)
-
I take mine to my vets and ask them to put them in their sharps bin.

I use a large screw top jar in my medicine cupboard as a sharps bin. It has passed farm assurance inspections. Never had a problem in giving it to the vet for a christmas pressie.

Try one of the micro-chip company's I get mine from pet detect as I am a registered implanter with them

Don't need to do anything specific to order from them either as far as I know :)

Companies like PHS or similar clinical waste will take them. It costs but probably cheaper than vet. I use sharps at work so :innocent: :innocent:

They have bins in Priory in cardi :)
But to be honest I grind mine down to nothing on the bench grinder then throw whats left in the bin.

I used to put mine in the multifuel stove when ever i had any to dispose of.
Never saw the point in storing them up till it became a disposal issue .
There was never anything left once the fire had turned them bright yellow hot .
