And are they worth going to ? The nearest one I can get to is about two hours drive away and I don't want to waste petrol and time if they're not worth it ! Thanks.

Our first one "locally" is 4th December (Perth) then a mini local one on 11th December.
I feel a bit like you - as a complete newbie, I fear it will be dominated by large farmers and jargon and I'll have no idea what's going on ::)

Ah well, we'll go to the one in Lairg tonight and report back. Maybe there'll be a few friendly crofting faces there.

The reform is thee biggest changes that Agriculture have seen in many yrs.
I went to a meeting in Perth a couple of weeks ago - 3.5hrs on a Friday afternoon :excited: :excited: :excited: :excited:
It was useful, however, there are still a lot of unanswered questions. In fact the 'Greening' document which you can find on the web actually opens up some qu's.
Overall, I don't think it will be too bad for folk - there appears to be some 'loop holes' which could assist growers.

Don't be put off by large farmers attending - do some back ground reading before and if necessary speak to someone at the local office and they will help you out.

Well, on the whole, I think it was worthwhile. It looks like there could be some help for 'small farmers', which there isn't at the moment. The key here will be to keep a look out on the government website for news and apply early. If I spot anything worth sharing I'll post on here and you can all get going! Interestingly there have been far more people turning up to the presentations than they expected - we were packed in like sardines !

Our local one (which amazingly is only 15 minutes away!) is on 2nd December, we are planning to go.
