Have several bantums . Hens gone off lay mackerel was predominantly black in colour start going white (whole feathers) was about 2 years old. Mackerel for uhh nd dead outside of coop no signs of trauma or Injury. Any ideas as to cause ???

A darkened comb would indicate a heart attack Pecan. A pale comb would indicate blood loss from either internal bleeding or red mite in the coop. We have two cockerels that started black and whose feathers showed white after the first year. I put that down to the same mechanism as going grey in humans.
