Title: How much should turkeys eat?
Post by: wayfarer on October 08, 2014, 04:45:44 pm
I am finding that my 2 turkeys are going through 6kg of turkey pellets a week which seems like a lot.  Can anyone give me a guide if this is right or am I feeding all the local wildlife as well?

They must be jolly big turkeys by now.

They do seem quite large but nowhere near full grown yet.  It is v heard to tell how much is just feather.

Depends on what you want your turkeys for and when you want them ready if it's for the table.  We breed Narragansetts for conservation purposes and let them have ad lib layers pellets through the day once they've moved on from growers pellets but we always remove the feeders at night, thus depriving the local rodent population of the means to thrive!
