Title: Its not long now....
Post by: Carse Goodlifers on September 30, 2014, 06:38:40 pm
Its 85 days to go to the big day or in other words just shy of 3 months.
How do I know this??
I popped in to pick up some winter bedding plants from a national garden centre chain (who also has an affiliation to a large supermarket chain who aren't good at profit reports  :innocent:) and blow me down......the Christmas displays are up, the bags of scented pine cones are out, the lights are on, the halls are decked, the dancing snowmen are dancing.

Really!  :o
Give me bleeding strength.
We've not even had Halloween or Guy Fawkes night yet.

And thats why we are all heartily sick of it by the end of October! I feel a bah humbug moment coming on! The whole meaning has been lost in the commercial frenzy and unnecessary overindulgence. There, I shall stop being an old grump now!

Best Christmas we ever had was with my late in laws. We arrived at their home on Christmas Eve dug out some ancient christmas decorations, cut some fresh greenery and started decorating the house. We celebrated a traditional Christmas, shared simple gifts and after a good and happy day put everything away on Boxing Day. Two days of celebration, good family memories  and none of this rediculous September build up!!

A tesco I go into near my work has had the Christmas stuff in for over two weeks now. Couldn't believe it when I saw it. This is the same Tesco who was discounting their Christmas stuff by 15th December last year....

15th December? That's when I start thinking about Christmas preparations.

With a very large family you have to think well ahead but it should be done discreetly! I ignore the Christmas displays in shops and supermarkets until the last week in December.

Stop it, stop it, stop it.

I love Christmas.  In December.
