Hi All
Anyone sell meat direct in poly boxes? If so what size box do you use ....
We will be delivering with about a 4 hour drive so need ice packed boxes but struggling to know which size to buy.

I put mine in a box about the size of a generous coolbox, so I guess about 18 x 18 x 24" or possibly a little larger. That takes half a hogget carefully packed.

Huge thank you ... so difficult to guess.

We've just been using 8kg poly boxes for 5kg of pork..... from JB packaging....
They also sell 6kg boxes - but we weren't sure if the internal dimensions would be large enough (all set out in their website)
They also sell dehydrated ice packs (you soak them yourself and then freeze them)...
Just had 5kg of frozen pork in a poly box with about three individual ice pack strips (each quite small), and it was all still frozen after 6 hours in the boot of car....
We're picking up lamb at the end of the week - so will know then how much we can pack in...
let me know if you want us to test it out (our sheep are v small though - what weight are you sellling?)

I guess our lambs are probably about 30 to 35 Kg ... though without scales I may be way out! We are aware that the meat will be just bagged in one large poly bag per half carcass so that maynot fit so easily into a smaller box. Am going to order the dehydrated ice packs ... spotted them earlier.

My butcher packs it in cardboard boxes so I take ice blocks and a clean old duvet to wrap around them but it's only 1 1/2 hours home from Wrexham.
