Have you never seen the vermin out in daytime? Sunning themselves or p
The cubs playing? They are so humanised these days they sit in the field looking at you looking at them and won't move till you chase. Hope youve a gun or a local who will get rid and protect your poultry!

Hope it didn't get lunch at yours
-
My son sees them playing in his back garden. neighbours feeding them - until he yells out the window to eff off.

No I don't think our chickens are safe during the day >:( Our last fox attack was at lunchtime, 7 or 8 killed and strewn around the place, and I saw the fox all puffed out and sunning itself with a full belly in our orchard. Oh if only I'd had my catapult in my back pocket.
That's not the first day time incident here either, sometimes one will pick off one hen a week til they're all gone, or we've had mass kills as well

Mine were killed at lunchtime, feet away from a neighbour who tried to scare the fox off. Other day I went into our sheep field (11am) and 3 foxes ran out of the bushes.

Seen plenty during the day….thats why they are known as cunning,

0900 in garden >:( , 1000 on porch :o , as soon as one is shot another takes it's place  .
Then I caught a Jack Russell killing one so not just the fox to blame :'(

I had one take a hen at 11am a couple of years ago. Right in front of my stable building that I was mucking out.
