Title: Where do i find young meat chickens
Post by: Lavinia on November 19, 2009, 04:05:08 pm
Right we have moved in and now it's time to get down to work, my first project now is to sort out some meat chickens.  Anybody know of a good supplier.

Central Scotland Smallholders Association voted last night to buy a superduper incubator and hatcher so we'll be getting Hubbard hatching eggs soon to supply members. If we have a surplus, we'll sell them to non-members. Details will be on our website soon.

We have downloaded a membership form just the other day. It has been filled in and winging its way to the association. Looking forward to getting lots more info about them soon. I believe they have meetings is that just for the committee or is it for the general members. Would love to meet lots more of small holders so i can learn as much as possible...  What a great thing to do, look forward to getting some birds..

The next meeting is 16th December - that's the AGM. Hopefully there will be a constitutional change that will establish a General Committee of 4 executive officers and three committee members. It will meet at least four times a year.

Meanwhile, there will be regular events for members - the first is on 20th January at the Mayfield Centre in St Ninians. It's called Biodiversity for Smallholders and we'll have a panel of experts from the local Biodiversity Officer, to RSPB, Central Scotland Bat Group, Bee Conservation and Buglife explaining the issues for their "species" and what we, as smallholders, can do to help.

Information is posted on the website www.smallholders.info You will be very welcome at the meetings
