I have some turkey poults 8 weeks old and am wondering if l should worm them? They are free range and with their mum ( an indian game hen) and all seem healthy. Is it too early to worm or should l do it anyway to be safe? These are going to be breeding stock for next year.

How mich space do they have? I'd be more concerned about them getting blackhead from running on ground that's previously been used by chickens. It's a disease chickens recover from but usually fatal for turkeys.

They have lots of room about 50meters square and chucks have been kept off this for about 18 months. The chucks were wormed in April.

To answer your question yes you can worm your 8 week old poults and I would recommend that you do it twice more at five week intervals then twice yearly after that.

Thanks bigchicken will do tomorrow. The little devils went walkabout this afternoon, worse than sheep to control.

I believe if you worm them regularly, they are less likely to contract blackhead so I'd say go for it. I've got some turkey growers that I need to do this week so thanks for the reminder!

What is the best stuff to use for worming? I have flubenvet powder but is this the best?

Flubenvet would be fine.
