I feed my horses soaked shreded beet pulp and wondered if it was ok to give some to the pigs and if so in what sort of quantity?
-
I tried my pigs with it, speedybeet that i have for the horses, soaked it the same as you would for horses and the pigs didnt like it!!
-
I think you can feed it unsoaked. Likewise mine dont like it.
-
your asking for trouble if you do. it swells a lot. but our hated the taste.
-
It does swell, and for horses this is dangerous, but not apparently so for pigs. (River Cottage site)

:pig:mum soaks it for the goats and cattle i tried it soaked for the pigs but they did not like it i would not feed it unsoaked though
-
Tried my boys with it today just a handful soaked and mixed with their pellets and they ate it. But I would not take the chance of feeding it unsoaked
-
I have never fed it unsoaked. Indeed have only ever tried it once, and as above they disliked it. I read on River Cottage though that it is ok to feed it to ruminants and pigs unsoaked.

ive seen our pigs with stomach ache after raiding the feed store. broke through two tough gates and broke open a feed bin to get it. they would be very uncomfatable with a full feed swelling up.
