Title: Lime on land to prevent scald
Post by: babysham on August 11, 2014, 06:47:56 pm
I am having problems with scald in my lambs - happens suddenly and they go downhill so fast but as soon as I jab them and spray the foot they are much better the next day. Obviously with the humid and recent wet the bacteria has got into the land. Someone mentioned putting lime around the wall and gate areas where there is heavy footfall or use by the sheep. Has anyone tried this and also if you use lime can you leave the stock on the field? I noticed on Countryfile they had limed a pen and there were sheep about.   :sheep:

You put the lime down, the sheep walk through it and it kills off the bacteria. That's the theory!
