We have a number of animal holes that have appeared in the garden - think they are rats. I've shot one and the dogs got another but the holes have been partially excavated by one of the dogs. I've decided to just shove all the dog mess down there. A watering can of water later and it's all flushed deep underground! Whether the rats like it or not remains to be seen but I would hope the smell might deter them and after a while, I'm sure even the extensive burrows will fill up!

I have a feeling you may be feeding your rats...?

Yes, a local farmer was telling me the other day, that his neighbour breeds dogs. Apparantly, she piles all the dog poo in the corner of her field, and he says he has seen gangs of rats tucking in ......urgh :) They obviously do not mind the smell!!

Hmmm... Oh well, I'd better get the well pump then and flush them out

They're pretty good swimmers :roflanim: :roflanim: :roflanim:

They'll have to be, it's a pretty good pump. I'm hoping they'll come dashing out, in which case I can be waiting with a 12 bore friend... :)

i think a good way would be to dig a big pit, plant a bucket inside, drill a few holes, then fill with dog eggs, add some BACO.broma grain…and put a lid on, leaving just a small enough gap to let the rats in, i would also plant some shrubs around the area, and fence off, so other animals can't get near to it
leave the top 3rd of the bucket, un drilled

you could build a nice bank with shrubs, heathers, and wild flowers …using a few buckets buried in the ground.
as above, you could add some rat poison , just making sure, the other animals couldn't get to it, a bit of fencing could sort that ….and you will have something nice to look at

I'm confused Spandit - are you trying to get rid of the dog eggs, the rats, or both? ;D

Both! Haven't seen a rat for a while but the poo has to go somewhere... :D

Sore subject at the moment. I had left a bag of dog poo in a bucket outside awaiting disposal. With all that rain we have had, the bag was nearly full of water - brown water. When I lifted it, I discovered it had several holes and the water started to splash out.
Why oh why had I gone out in the garden in flip flops instead of wellies?
Had to hose my feet and flip flops before I could come back indoors.
