Title: goats cheese in Errol, Perthshire. Looking to volunteer.
Post by: jamesf on August 04, 2014, 05:58:43 pm
Hi

I'm James a researcher at Dundee university who rather than getting an engineering job (when my contract ends) is thinking about goat farming. I have no prior experience I just love goats cheese, especially crottins. I was thinking that volunteering on someones goat farm or smallholding would be helpful in either confirming that I'm mad or that it is a feasible goal.

so anyone want some help?

James

I have a couple of milking goats who would be happy to teach you lots. I'm in Aberdeenshire if that isn't too far.

Nearest town is Huntly. We do have a caravan that people can stay over in.

If you are at all mobile go get woofing on goat farms, not sure there is a commercial goat milking farm/cheesemaker in Scotland though....

working trip to France?

There is also someone teaching general cheesemaking quite far up on the NorthWest coast.
